Azurelos' Brother; A Noble Assassin who hails from the Steppe. Not much is known about him however, certain traces are left behind from his assassination marks.

Backstory

From the far plains of the Steppe, the Xaelan Au Ra from the proud assassins of the Firios clan, Azurelos is born. His early years were steeped in blood and his resolve was forged from the tears of hardships growing up. Azurelos spent his youth being raised by a family focused on teaching the art of assassination, subtlety, and subterfuge. His family imparted the mission of killing the leader of the Dawn Throne of the Oronir clan. Many years pass as the Oronir rejoice in crowning a new leader to the Dawn Throne, Magnai. Azurelos, a mere boy filled with hatred, oblivious with little understanding the reason for his mission attempted to assassinate Magnai. He was pulled apart as he leaped onto his quarry for the killing blow, he scurried away throwing a smoke bomb and managed to escape, trading places with a nearby shadow. While his attempt failed he knew he needed to escape the Steppe to forge a new life of his own, without indoctrination.

He made westward to Eorzea on a raft, eventually picked up by a fishing boat, he hopped and skipped his way to the frigid north of Abalathia's Spine to find the isolationist kingdom of Ishgard. In the holy see of Ishgard, he was considered an exotic rarity among the sea of Elezen and was scouted by high nobility to join their house as a Sentinel due to his exemplary strength demonstrated by his fighting in the underground ring. Here he had a Scholasticate education and learned to read, write, barter, cook, clean, and alchemy in exchange for his service to the house. A decade passes and over the many years he maintained a close pulse to the happenings of Ishgard, Azurelos' fate connected with the shinobi of Mor Dhona he heard rumblings that the "光の戦士 - Hikari no Senshi" was making waves at dismantling the social structure of Ishgard. While his noble house was neutral among the political matters of Ishgard he was given special leave to join the ranks of the shinobi for the Waters Cell to subterfuge and espionage on King Thordan VII. Through his shinobi work, he was able to put his dagger into helping the Hikari no Senshi to break the political constructs of Ishgard and place a new democratically focused leader the Lord Commander of the Temple Knights of the Congregation of Our Knights Most Heavenly, Ser Aymeric (The Blue) de Borel.

Azurelos, filled with resolve and energized from his role in taking down a millennium of rule in Ishgard He decides to request his noble house to allow him to go on an indefinite sabbatical to sign up for the rogue survey corps of the Doman Liberation Party to assist the Hikari no Senshi with the liberation of Garlean rule in the east. He was enraptured with the idea of fighting the Garleans however, his true motive was to return to the Steppe as a man. He wanted use his skill set for good to improve his relations with the Steppe and immerse himself into its culture while searching for his family.In between his scouting missions he would go to the Steppe seeking members of his clan, he spent nearly a year seeking anyone from his clan, but couldn't find a single Firios soul within the Steppe. He decides that he will refine his search and change how he seeks his family, he moves east to Hingashi to Kugane with special permission through the Scion influenced Ruby Bazaar to set new roots. Here he uses his influence from Ishgard to get closer to the markets, in hopes that maybe coin would lead him closer to his family, using the Bazaar as a front for his dealings. His efforts within his work with the Waters cell are recognized by Thancred and he gets promoted into his own shinobi cell under Waters. In between his market dealings he went on missions to Dalmasca and the Golmore Jungle. With Thancred’s mentorship, he became a force to be reckoned with and sharpened his ability to subterfuge.

Garlemald finally breaks the silence in the Eorzean front and commits atrocities against the Eorzean Alliance after a session of parley, they disagree and go into full-scale war. Thancred and the Scions are missing in action, no one truly knows what became of them. Azurelos contributes to the war by joining the Bozjan Southern Front to assist the Blades of Gunnhildr and provides his aetherochemical knowledge to supply memory fragments aspected in subterfuge with collaboration with the brightest minds at the Front to assist other Blades with new magic to use in the Front. While cornering the market in Bozja, he enters the fray as a Blade and supports the campaign against the IVth Imperial Legion. his exemplary service in many critical engagements in the front increased his fame as a formidable Blade. In the front, the gunblade became his new weapon of choice as he found it to be useful and powerful in his engagements in the Front. Azurelos honed his blade, subterfuge, magic, and became extremely effective as a leader for many campaigns. His glamour magic significantly improves his Au Ra shadow becomes almost indistinguishable due to contributions from Bozja. He dons a new mask as a Miqo’te to hide from his enemies, he was able to strike terror into his quarry as they couldn’t see him coming.

After much planning and espionage, Azurelos and his team was able to breach Castrum Lacus Litore their mission was to rescue their comrades and their secondary mission was to assassinate Misija and Lyon Rem Helsos the Beast King and anyone else in their way. As Azurelos and his team push closer to Lyon, Azurelos feels a pulse within his body and feels like everything around him has stopped. A quiet whisper emanates from within…One brings shadow, one brings light.
Two-toned echoes tumbling through time.
Threescore wasted, ten cast aside.
Four-fold knowing, no end in sight......his body is enveloped in the void, it's so dark that his eyes are unable to see his own hands in front of him. After a few quiet moments of nothingness, he reflects on the memories of his adventures and his comrades and tries to determine the source of this darkness. Instantly without a sound light emanates from within, blinding and boundless he feels his form slowly returning to him and feels the ground underneath his feet, he takes a moment to look around and behind him he sees a form in warm yet blinding light… he feels a sense of relief within this form and realizes who is before him… The Hikari no Senshi speaks within him and says “Champion of Thancred, I summon thee to this new world, help me smite my enemies.” Azurelos’ mission becomes very clear, and that he’s no longer in the Bozjan Citadel but a world far and foreign from his own...

In this new realm, he can feel his strength surge, it's as if the Hikari no Senshi imparted some of his strength into Azurelos. A quiet warm whisper emanates from within as the benevolent form speaks to him once more…These memories of this world, and our pasts ache with the weight of tomorrow.Who fights? You will.
Who flies? We will rise.
Who falls? Any who stand in our way.Stand tall my friend, we as have many challenges before us to face.May all of the dark lost inside you find light again, and may our hands come together to bring light once more to this fallen realm.The sky begins to darken as a shower of stars begins to hail, he's left alone once more, overwhelmed with purpose and a sense of belief. He's heard the tales of the Warrior of Light, the Hikari no Senshi! He felt so starstruck that he was needed. He looks out into the world left before him, it's familiar but different, something foreboding that he cannot quite shake. A few quiet moments pass as he senses overwhelming light shower him once more, it calls him with a sense of hope, but as quickly as that hope arrived it was taken away, a darkness filled the air, the Warrior of Light beckons to help him fight an evil so desolate and dark, a void that needs to be shone on.

That Warrior of Light… was not the true Warrior of Light… Azurelos was enthralled by the Ascian Emissary, Elidibus. The darkness he was brought to fight against was the true Warrior of Light from the Source. The same world Azurelos is from, he was unfortunately tangled into a fight much greater than his own. He crossed his blade against the Hikari no Senshi and was freed from his tempering, but now abandoned in a new world. He learned that Thancred and the Scions are also abandoned here, summoned by another with no way to return. As he's in a new world with no influence or knowledge of how things work he decides to try a different kind of life here, he manages to find work at the Crystarium, he works as a bartender, eventually he leaving his own mark by opening his own café bar serving books, coffee and warm smiles. But with brief happiness and peace, every tale must end. He left behind his business to return with the rest of the Scions to the first and resume his fight against Garlemald.

He returns from the 1st Shard with a new perspective as he lived a much more quaint life and was distant from the kind of life he led in the Source. He makes a solemn vow that once he is done with this war against Garlemald, he must fight for his own peace. He frequently puts his future on the back burner and must consider his own future rather than acting as a chess piece for another militia. He returns to Ilsabard to report back to the Blades, only to find that they succeeded in their mission. They managed to fend off the IVth Legion in a decisive battle in the Delubrum Reginae in Zadnor, a plateau on the border of Dalmasca. Understanding that the Bozjan Resistance is finally free of Garlean oppression and has their restoration underway, Azurelos returns to Eorzea to refine his art of subterfuge. He works with his cell to discover new missions to hit Garlemald as painfully as possible. With his exposure to the Golmore Jungle in previous engagements and meeting the Vieran people for the first time, Azurelos felt inspired. As the Garleans become familiar with his now infamous Miqo'te form, he concludes a new mask is needed; a new, unknown force to hide within. He travels to Dalmasca to refine his glamour art and learns of a rare group of Viera that are male and excluded from most of the enclaves. Realizing that this obscure group might be perfect as the mask needed for the upcoming battle with Garlemald, he changes his form to resemble a male Viera. Complete with his own flair, Azurelos the Viera is now born anew to walk the Source.

About

Azurelos has a very inquisitive nature, his questions always lead to new questions, if you leave him unchecked you’ll find yourself very deep in the rabbit hole. However don’t mistake inquisitiveness for friendliness, Azurelos is still very aloof at times and can be quite cold. He’ll be glad to answer any questions you may have just make sure to check your pockets from time to time.

Locations

“Where do you like to spend most of your time?”Azurelos can be found in various places in the overworld, however he can be best tracked in 3 distinct locations.

1. Limsa Lominsa, don’t ask; He just he spends a lot of time here. Which Limsa? Who knows, you’re a sprightful inquirist though...

2. That one random evening venue the herald has been shouting for HOURS in the directory? Most likely at one of those.

3. Eikon Company Safehouse. It’s heard that he likes to visit, twist some knobs and push some buttons there, you might catch him before he runs off to his next venture.

He can also be found in…Azim Steppe - Ah Azim, while he hides under the guise of a Viera, he can’t be too far from home.

Ishgard - This is his 2nd home, and he always has business in Ishgard. Plus, he loves the snow and gray.

Bozjan Southern Front - In the field he spends a lot of time under cloak and dagger however, he loves to fight Garleans or foreign machinations forged in Garlean steel at the front. If you see him charging the front with his blade out, follow him, you’re in for a good time.

Rumors

While this is technically meta, this might help...

“I heard … about the Firios Clan”It better be good, because he has chased many dead ends, and frankly he’s grown quite tired of it. Be VERY careful about using this to get his attention, it could lead to your death...

Tea. Not the kind of you’re thinking of either.Azurelos’ line of work has placed him in trust of many secrets. He’s very tight lipped and may not share much- however, if you approach him with a secret or two he might share a rabbit hole for you to chase. His moral wild card here could land you at another dead end or a secret exchange, however it’s not something he’s done... yet at least.

Knowledge is Power.He prides himself in his vast personal library and access to the scholasticate in Ishgard. Have a book or a new piece of world shattering research? Azurelos is interested and may even let loose some coin for it.

Azurelos is known to take small trinkets because it caught his eye and maybe he wanted you to know he stole it. If you think he might have taken something from you- chances are he probably has. Trivia

🗡Azurelos' first name is derived from Monster Hunter. There's a wyvern in Monster Hunter named Rathalos, in Monster Hunter Portable 2nd there's an Azure variation of it, so I thought it would be fun to refer to it as Azurelos within my friend group, eventually it became my hunter name and a name of sorts I use online.🗡Azurelos' last name "Firios" is a modification of Firion from Final Fantasy II. Firion is a master of all weapons, and thought it would be fitting for FFXIV since your hero can use any weapon. Firion also means 'mortal man' in elvish, so both things led me to decide to use it as a last name for XIV, with the modification to Firios.
